People = Worse Than Shit

Sometimes people are so disappointing in their actions that you can't find the words to describe them. At least none that aren't expletives.

Today we went up to the allotment. It was a nice day for being outside, to be honest and it was nice to start working there again.
It was the reason for having to be there that angered me.
Our neighbours had taken to leaning some old doors, boards and wood offcuts against the fence which separates our two plots. This had put a lot of pressure on the fenceposts that were already so rotten they'd given Shane MacGowan's teeth a run for their money. Every time the neighbours had done this I would push the offending articles away from our fence and towards their shed.
Eventually though it took its toll and several fenceposts became what an expert would call "fucked".
We bought four new posts today and headed up there. They were only £2 each, but that's far from the point.
When we arrived I immediately noticed that there were three other posts towards the front of our plot which were also knackered. I was baffled by this. It looked as if something had been leaning against it for a while.
The solution was revealed almost immediately, like when someone really good is on Countdown and they guess the conundrum dead quick. Our neighbours had recently constructed a compost bin using old doors, boards and wood offcuts right next to our newly-knackered fence. Clearly they had thought it was ok to lean all this shit against the fence while they constructed said compost bin.
They weren't there today, but if they had been they would have been subjected to some heavy duty tutting and eye-rolling.
Spending an hour whacking four posts into the ground with a lump hammer leads to a very tired right arm, I can tell you. I tried hammering with my left hand, but it felt like someone else was doing it.
We obviously had fewer posts than we thought we needed, so a repeat will be on the cards next weeks.
I know this phrase gets thrown around a lot, but our allotment neighbours really are worse than Hitler.
