Terrorism

Terrorism is bad. I’m sure we can all agree on that.
The latest attacks in Paris are one of the most sickening things that the World has been forced to witness in recent times.
ISIS, ISIL, Islamic State, Da’esh, The Artist Formerly Known as ISIS, or whichever name they are now supposedly going by, accepted responsibility for the acts.
It may not have been them who were responsible, but they want us to think it was. Somebody who is universally despised claims they did something heinous in order to make everybody hate them even more. This is like Phil Collins claiming he wrote The Birdie Song. And The Macarena.
In fact, if ISIS truly want to make as many people as possible hate them and spread Islamophobia to fuel the legitimacy of their “war”, all they need to say is: “You know all those phone calls you get that are just automated messages telling you you could have been mis-sold PPI? That’s us, that is.”
Possibly worse than the terror is the unending stream of far-right bullshit we’ve been subjected to ever since.
Regular readers of this blog will be aware of my boss, “Toby”, and his penchant for extreme views.
“We need to close our borders and deport all Muslims immediately,” he raged yesterday.
Interesting. There are approximately 2.7 million Muslims in Britain, almost half of whom were born here. Where does he suggest we deport them to, exactly?
In any case, people can choose to live wherever they want and should be free to do so without the ludicrous “Schroedinger’s immigrant” claims that they’re simultaneously stealing our jobs and milking our benefits system.
“Their religion should be banned,” he further raged.
I’m no fan of organised, fairytale book-worship, as you know, but again it’s down to personal choice. If anything should be banned, it’s the bigotry of arseholes like Toby.
The number of Facebook posts I’ve seen echoing similar sentiments have given me a good excuse to cull some people I really have no desire to be friends with.
The people of this country who spout “send them back” rhetoric are the real extremists and it’s those who we should be looking to eradicate.
